How you can help.

We speak to you on behalf of veterans of the United States Armed Forces, please consider making a donation to assist in funding Veteran Services Outreach. Our charge is to honor and serve veterans through charitable giving.


Your contribution will go towards supporting veterans in The Greater Fort Hood Area by providing food, clothing, shelter and financial assistance to thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that have seperated from the Military and are now facing difficulties in returning to civilian life.

Veteran Services Outreach provides a range of assistance programs, referral services and community outreach programs aimed at helping veterans and their families in the Greater Fort Hood Area. We are dedicated to provide food, clothing, shelter and emergency financial relief in times of need.

About Us.

We at Veteran Services Outreach believe that although we may never be able to fully repay our veterans for the sacrifices they have made, we must do all we can to lend a helping hand. Our purpose is to ensure that Veterans, Dependents and Survivors are well informed of the services available to them, by providing the the necessary tools, training and access to veteran services.

J. Washington

Chief Executive Officer

J. Washington, the son of an Army Veteran, nephew of Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans was inspired by the selfless service of his family members to join the Air Force in defense of his country, his passion for the military as a whole and veterans in particular is deeply rooted. With a background in logistics, training and computer science our President is dedicated in assisting our veterans in every stage of life, mentally, physically or socially.

LuRetta M. Smith

Chief Operating Officer

LuRetta Smith is the wife of a Army veteran, mother of a Air Force veteran and sister to Army, Air Force and Navy veterans. LuRetta’s background is in Civil Service and a Child Care Development, a recent retiree after 33 years of service, LuRetta is not only our COO she is our Director or Marketing directly responsible for our grassroots approach to servicing our community.

Donald R. Smith

Volunteer Instructor

Bronze Medal recipient Donald R. Smith served proudly in defense of our nation in Operation Desert Storm. Since separating from the US Army, Donald as worked with two defense contractors (United Defense and Engineering Solution and Products) instructing military personnel. His passion is working directly to educate servicemen. Although he is disabled Donald volunteers his time to help veterans in any way he can as they migrate back into civilian life.

Veteran Affairs

Its primary function is to support Veterans in their time after service by providing benefits and support. A current initiative in the Department is to prevent and end Veterans' homelessness.The VA works with the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness to address these issues. The Secretary sits on the Council and is committed to ending Veteran's homelessness by 2015 as laid out in Opening Doors: Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness, released in 2010.


National Veterans Foundation

Mission is to Serve the crisis management, information and referral needs of all U.S. Veterans and their families through: Management and operation of the nation’s only toll-free helpline for all veterans and their families. Public awareness programs that shine a consistent spotlight on the needs of America’s veterans. Outreach services that provide veterans and families in need with food, clothing, transportation, employment, and otheressential resources.


American Legion

At the state level, The American Legion is organized into "departments", which run annual civic training events for high school juniors called Boys State. Two members from each Boys State are selected for Boys Nation. The American Legion Auxiliary runs Girls State and Girls Nation. In addition to Boys State, The American Legion features numerous programs including American Legion Baseball, Scouting, Oratorical Contests, Junior Shooting Sports, Youth Alumni, Sons of The American Legion, The American Legion Riders, and Scholarships at every level of the organization.

Stars and Stripes is an American newspaper that reports on matters affecting the members of the United States Armed Forces. It operates from inside the Department of Defense, but is editorially separate from it, and its First Amendment protection is safeguarded by the United States Congress, to whom an independent ombudsman, who serves the readers' interests, regularly reports.
